SQUISHY explores connection and intimacy through a trans, neurodivergent lens. It captures snippets of the turbulence and emotion of these experiences in soft, sculptural pieces.

These 3D textile forms are bright, textural and playful, with the intent of creating a delicious visual sensory experience, infused with neurodivergent pleasure and joy.

Ríon (they/he) is a socially engaged visual artist, based in Dublin. They hold a BFA in Textile Art & Artefact from NCAD, and an MA in Gender Studies from UCD. They are co-director of the trans-led, anticapitalist art collective gender.RIP, and maintain a specific focus on creating art for their peers in the trans community.

Ríon’s practice engages with themes of queerness, neurodivergency, intimacy, social connection, and gender. Their work primarily takes the form of textile sculptures and collaborative arts events. Playful texture and colour are central to their work.
